I'd have appealed the headmistress of the school to which many of my foster daughters go. But on second thought I decided it let it be as it is. Their dance teachers had organised a show in the city municipal hall. Many dance groups were prepared to showcase their performance on the prestigious stage. They had to don special dresses for the show They also had to decorate their palms and fingers with mehendi and apply alta. ( red liquid) on their feet. The performance was superb and the dignitaries and audience alike appreciated the program . However, the next day when the girls went to their school, the headmistress made the girls stand out of the class. She told them not to come to school as long as the mehendi and alta was not washed off. Now, those colours don't get washed off that easily. And so, my girls had to stay out of their school for three days or so. Can you guess why the headmistress was so strict on the girls? I'll look forward to your takes.

It sounds as though she doesn't appreciate the cultural importance of these things. Is she of a different religion perhaps?

I have no idea, Is it something to do with tradition?
