Wrong wedding.

The BBC tells me, and so it must be true, of a mystery man who appears in the wedding photographs of a Scottish couple, and who has at last been identified four years after the wedding. Neither bride nor groom recognised the very tall stranger in their wedding photos, and he was noticeably tall. For four years they were baffled and eventually after much sleuthing the mystery was solved. The stranger was going to a wedding in the same area of Scotland but had been given the name of the wrong hotel. He knew no-one at the wedding other than his partner who was in the wedding party, so wasn’t surprised to recognise no-one when he arrived. It was only when everyone was seated and the wedding party entered the room that the man (Andrew) realised that he was at the wrong wedding, but felt that he couldn’t get up and leave. Probably no-one would have noticed him in the photo if he hadn’t been so tall. when he got the chance he slipped away thinking no-one had noticed. When he was tracked down four years later he became Facebook friends with the couple and they have met in person. It reminds me of a number of funerals I have conducted in the past where mourners have arrived at the wrong graveyard and joined the throng, and only realised once things started, and I could always spot the confused faces who then tried to blend in hoping no-one would ask how they knew the deceased.

We attended the wrong crematorium after travelling six hours to get there. Luckily we made the wake.

We have a photo like that. When my cousin got married ( for the first time ) her family were living in Wales . Her husband - to - be was still in the Midlands, where she had previously lived. Anyway all family and friends were to travel to Wales for the wedding. Her parents had a hotel and many of the travelling guests were staying there. During the weekend several of the party walked along the sea front and had a photo taken. After nearly 40 years this photo was found and put on Facebook. There is one person…..a young girl of about 10 ….that neither side of the families recognise.

Interesting that they were able to identify the man years later.
