Does Anybody Ring Doorbells Anymore?

Generally, people knock on my door, which I prefer over the doorbell ringing. Of course, only a small amount of people have Ring doorbells here. I think if a lot of us here had houses we’d find a way to get one though. If I had one, my phone would be going nuts due to all the people going by my apartment on the way up and down the stairs.

@looeyville I do love ringing doorbells and knocking knockers. Did you ever play ‘knock the door’ when you were a child? That’s the one when kids dare each other to knock someone’s door or ring their bell then runaway and hide where they can watch them unseen and throw things at them? Spoiled now by cameras.

SInce there are some very naughty little kids who make that sound I knocked on the door again, the bell in my house was no longer connected by a very noisy object.

My mailman rang it Tuesday to let me know that I had a package. Before that, my next-door neighbor came over while I was in Arizona and rang it to let me know a branch she was cutting off a tree fell into my yard. We don’t have ditches, and we’re all old, so there’s no “ding dong ditch” in our neighborhood.

Jehovah Witnesses still ring doorbells, even though I have a sign out saying to leave us alone. I answer the door, they start their spiel and I close the door again.

We need to get a new doorbell for my Mom as we have realised that hers has broken. She doesn’t get many visitors so goodness only knows how long it’s been broken. She doesn’t use a mobile/ cell phone. She has a doorbell with a camera on so that she can look at the screen inside the house to see who is at the door before opening it. As she is on her own now we find it’s much safer than just opening the four , even during the day time.
