Scenic train trip

Well friend and I finalized our plans to go on a scenic train trip into the mountains in October. I sure hope the weather is decent. October can have some inclement weather as it changes from warmer to cooler temps. The weather has been dry like it has been the past few years, so the color might not be great..but it will be a pleasant trip to while away a few hours. I haven't been on a scenic train trip, for years..or any train for that matter. It is probably been about 5 years since I was on the DC Metro, or maybe longer. Have you been on a scenic train trip?

The Shenandoah Valley here in VA. I just hope there is some rain between now and then so that the color is nice.

@shaggin Yeah, actually it is 3 hours. However, by the time we drive there and back it will be a full day. There is also a big Mennonite store out there that I just heard about. I think we will go to that as well.

@snowy22315 I felt badly for all the people on the train getting altitude sickness. I loved seeing the animals.

That sounds fun. Friend is so funny I was asking when he last took a scenic train ride..He said well there was the one at the Erie zoo!

@snowy22315 I just got asked out to something seasonal for tomorrow.
Since I see very little of the girls compared to Grandpa, our son asked if he could pick me up in the morning and he and I and the girls will go out of the city to an orchard called Apple Land Station.
They have a cute little train that takes you from the activity area and petting zoo out to the orchard and the train will stop at different places so that you can pick your apples and fill your bag.

The last scenic train trip was around 1970 when a train left New York City to visit my late grandparents to New Orleans aboard an Amtrak.

@snowy22315 It was a fun trip for me since Amtrak is very different than the Panama Canal Railway.

Not since I lived at home with my parents. We didn't have a car until I was 18 years old; and we took our trips by bus and train.
