I only know cocoa butter is used for making chocolates There may be other uses too. I have a recipe for making home made chocolates but at the time I was using that recipe I just could not get cocoa butter and therefore I had to use ordinary ghee. The chocolates did turned out OK but I am sure with cocoa butter they would have had a professional look I checked with Amazon.in and yes it is available but a mere 100 gms costs around Rs. 500 - too expensive. I may as well settle down to buying chocolates Have you made chocolates and do you know if there is any other use for cocoa butter? Image credit:

Cocoa butter while rarely done, can be used for coffee.

You mean you add butter instead of milk to coffee?

@allknowing Ah yes, that is actually one alternative when I have butter but not milk so I just add it to the coffee.

I have melted chocolate and dribbled it over pretzels and dropped peanuts into a bowl of melted chocolate then spooned it out onto a waxed paper and let it go solid again for nice treats. I don't buy cocoa butter for anything. Some people here use it when they lay out in the sun to get a better tan.

@allknowing Do you know what a double boiler is? One large pan partly filled with water and a smaller pan inside it with chocolate in it. Heat the big pan until the water boils. Once the chocolate gets warm, it will melt and you can use it for all kinds of things, but you have to do it quickly or the chocolate will harden too quickly.

I do not recall ever buying it, or my mom ever using it.

Only used for skin care. I don't know how to use it in cooking.

I haven’t made chocolates myself, but I do know cocoa butter is one of those ingredients with a lot of uses outside of confectionery. It’s commonly used in skincare.
