Polar Bears Aren’t What They Seem

Polar bears can swim for hours without stopping. They’re such strong swimmers that they’ve been spotted miles away from land or ice. But I learnt a fun fact that surprised me – Polar bears actually have black skin. And their fur isn’t really white, it’s transparent. It just looks white because it reflects light. Have you ever learned an animal fact that completely blew your mind?

@Tendz09 It reminds me of life, if we never look closely, it can gaslight us and deceive us forever. Anyway, thank you for this fun fact about Polar bears. God bless.

We always imagine them as completely white animals because that’s how they look in pictures and books. The transparent fur tricks our eyes.

That's interesting to know, especially I don't know polar bears have black skin.

I was surprised too. Their black skin actually helps them absorb heat from the sun, which is important for surviving in the Arctic.

I learn so much about cats. They are whimsical, moody and inconsistent

Their moods can shift quickly, which is part of their charm and mystery.

I learned that zebras are actually entirely black, but people are employed in the wild to observe newborns and paint the white stripes on immediately after birth. Sorry, that's not true at all, but it was a perfect opportunity to insert an old joke.

Good one! But yeah, zebras are black with white stripes, since their skin underneath is black.
