It is customary to remove footwoear when one enters a temple. But it is not so when one enters a church Wonder how devotees will recognise their footwear while they return. But here in India it is also cusotmary to remove one's footwear while visiting someone I have issues to do that. I therefore excuse myself and walk inside with my footwear. Most who visit my house always remove their footwear and I let them do it Do you have this custome where you live?

It is not customary in America to take one’s shoes off when they enter someone else’s home unless usually, the person is from another country or their parents were, and they were raised that way.

I have also noticed in America there is hardly any walking done before visiting anyone and that coul dbe one reason they do not feel the need to remove shoes which are always clean

@allknowing No, I guarantee that’s not the reason. We definitely do enough walking to have very dirty shoes on the bottom of our feet.

Yes, that is very impolite to walk on your dirty shoes inside someone's home. We always have a ready to wear slippers for our visitors, except if we are having a party, we let them use their shoes inside our home, and just mop the floor after the party.

This was never the custom in Australia but now many people remove their shoes when they enter someone's house.

This is a culture in certain countries and these days many have settled down in other countries and that perhaps explains why it is being followed in countries where it is not a culture.

I would definitely say them to remove their shoes before entering my house I don't like that this is trend we follow at our place, no one will enter there house with shoes or slippers no matter how clean your shoe is.
