This is another book I received as an Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for a review. Why were townspeople being murdered? What did they have in common? Why did someone view them as threats? I'm not exactly sure why this has such a bad rating. Maybe because it's a bit awkward throughout. As though it's the first book written by the author. I have no idea if it is. But, it was intriguing, to be sure. Maybe a little bit over the top, but it is something that has happened throughout history here and there. The only thing I didn't get was just what WERE the secrets they were protecting? What did those numbers represent? I didn't grasp how a town's heritage needed to be protected with death. It brought to mind today's political scene. But, also made me think of a wild west town with leaders who had their hands in every pot. They were finally brought down. I've read better, yes. But, I've also read a lot worse, including one I couldn't even finish. It's still an interesting read.

Who is the author? There are several books with that title. I've started several books that I couldn't finish for one reason or another... How have you been doing?

I've had better years, for sure. Just saw the rest of your comment. But, I'm too stubborn to not make periodic appearances.
