Putin has been manipulating the West with ease. And will continue to do so.
Having invaded the Ukraine in a memory of the Soviet Union, he did not expect the ability of retaliation.
Owning Trump, Putin was able to have him abuse Wolensky. Subsequently, Europe stepping in was not totally unexpected.
Putin can not 'play' European nations, they know his programme. He can continue to play Trump who worships him, proving his control by lies, tricks, which he easily erases with a smile.
Putin has been testing neighbouring countries, mapping their ability to respond to his incursions, so that he won't misjudge their ability as he has and is doing with Ukraine.
Getting the West distracted, one waits to see when he will implement his plan to push Russia back to Super Power.

I feel badly for Wolensky. The way he has been treated is horrible. Putin and Trump need to go to some distant island and live there. Leave actual humans alone.

Start building them yourself so you never have to rely on anyone again. If I took you to a supermarket in 1990 you'd see lots of US goods. Now? We have slowly cut down to the point that we have our own products and just a few US items.
I bought 'Bumblebee' Tuna... nope..it is made in Thailand.

@thedevilinme doesn't matter, you can't depend on the US. We learned that years ago. That is why what doesn't come from other countries (any country not the US) we make ourselves.
Trump will use you need for weapons to embarrass and hurt. That is how he stays.

He spent most of his life as a spy. He knows how to read and manipulate. He has a comprehension of cultures... he has been using his skills. Those in Europe are capable of reading, interviewing, researching, and can focus so they know who and what he is.
Trump can't read, think research, add 2 + 2 so Putin played him and will play him.
