While browsing for a book online at Barnes & Noble I learned that in order to get free shipping, you now need to buy $50 worth of stuff. That is just crazy. Might as well just pay $6.99 for shipping that book. I would get it at the store, but it’s not available in the location near me. Regardless of that, I still need to spend $2.90 to get to the store and $2.90 to get home via bus so it’s not that much of a difference in comparison to paying for shipping. May as well just order it online.

You can also try Amazon. Usually they charge $4 to ship a book via a 3rd party.

Amazon didn’t have the book in paperback. Only e-book and I don’t like to read those.

I remember when they just made you buy $25 worth of stuff for free shipping. It doesn’t seem so long ago, but it has to have been at least ten years.

Amazon went from $25 to $35 for free shipping. I think B&N was also like that before. $50 is ridiculous.

@lovebuglena I remember Amazon doing that. Fifty dollars is insane for B&N.

@AmbiePam so to buy the book from Barnes & Noble online I have to pay $6.99 shipping and then there’s also tax. While they don’t give me the tax amount until I actually check out I have a feeling that they’re going to charge me tax, not just on the price of the book, but on the shipping as well. If they do that the $16.99 book is going to cost me a bit over $26. That’s just insane.

There is a good site online that sells used books at reasonable prices.

I don’t like to buy used books. Only did that for college textbooks.
