Today’s treat was a bimble around what’s left of Dunollie castle in Oban. It’s the home of the clan McDougall and the 31st McDougall chief (a woman) lives next door to the ruin. It was a serendipitous find for us - we just happened upon it. After being relieved of £39 the three of us had the privilege of buying food in the open air cafe then climbed up to the ruin where the views over Oban and Kerrera sound stunned us and left us a bit weak at the knees. Blue skies, turquoise waters, islands, mountains and boats - enough to keep me occupied for hours. The history was sort of interesting I suppose and we got to see this and that, but it was the space that got me and the McDougalls can prance about in their kilts till the cows come home for all I care.

I love those times when traveling that you just happen upon something so outrageous. It's great! This area sounds like heaven on earth. Kilt prancing can be interesting to see. Great that the 31st chief is a woman.

@celticeagle She’s the second of 31. Didn’t find out how they choose who’ll be next.
