Which Sense Would You Most Miss?

I was watching something yesterday about how our bodies change and age a few days ago. It made me think of our senses (taste, sight, smell, touch, and hearing). It's like our feet... We use them so much and take them for granted. But have you ever thought about not having one of them, which would you miss the most? For me it would be sight. I remember when I was a young girl and living at my grandparent's house. My grandmother's mother, Rachel, was staying there, my great grandmother. It was my job to keep her entertained during the day while grandma was outside working in the garden. She was blind and pretty much bedridden. I would read to her from the Reader's Digest, sometimes even making up stories to tell her. But for my small mind it really struck home to me how important our eyesight was. It has stayed with me all these years. Oh, I'd miss the others, but eyesight really opens the world up to us. Losing that sense would really close down the world. I feel so badly for those who have never had sight. They have no idea what they are missing, and their world must be so confined. What are your thoughts?

I have to say the same, I feel like I would miss my eyesight the most, although I feel like my hearing would be missed as well. My Grandpa as legally blind, but could sometimes make out shadows, he was also deaf, but if you spoke to him in a quiet setting one-on-one, and used the deepest voice that you had, he could hear you. Somehow he remain sharp, I do not know how because he had very little stimulation, but if my Dad went to see him and tell him that he sold 40,000 bushels of beans for $8.79/bushel, Grandpa would tell him within seconds, how much that sale would yield him-and he was never wrong.

@celticeagle He never ever gave up. In his final months they found fluid on his lungs, caused by what they said was lung cancer. You have to die from something, and that seemed to be the tag that they put on his chart. I remember they had to draw fluid off of his lung a couple of times. My Dad had to go to 'translate' to him, tell him when they needed him to breath in and hold his breath. It was quite a painful procedure sticking a long needle into his chest to draw the fluid. He trudged on and lived another few months though.

I couldn't handle losing my eyesight. That would be the worst.
