A lady that used to live next door to my dad is getting married soon, and I’m invited. It’s going to be an interesting one, and I’m going to show support because she’s had a hard time of it. What is so different about this wedding? The bride is 62, and the groom is 42. No, you didn’t read that wrong…the bride is the older one. And this guy is crazy about her. She turned him down for a date for three years before she finally agreed to go out with him. No one in the church (they met at our church) even looks at them strangely because they are so crazy about each other. Due to her alcoholic (now deceased) ex husband she can’t retire for quite awhile because she had no money left after their divorce. She’s a breath of fresh air.
She’s a talkative “hairdresser”, and he’s a quiet engineer. She has two daughters in their late 20s, and he’s never been married. Her daughters highly approve; they’ve never seen her happier.
They went to premarital counseling (you get a reduced fee on your marriage license if you do, but you probably knew that), and they are excited to start a life together. She was radiant when she invited me to her wedding. I’m so happy for her. My cousin, Kevi, was helping her plan it after church, and it was just so nice to see. No one thinks much of an older man marrying a younger woman. I hope people in general support them because I’m telling you, this marriage will last. If I met a guy who looked at me how he looks at her, I wouldn’t hesitate to get married.

People are too quick to judge when it comes to a marriage and ages.
Our son is 7 years younger than his wife, and yet it works perfectly.
I think that she needed someone to look after her, although I may be a bit one sided in my opinion.
They have been married for 8 years, they have been together for 11, and those were years in their 20's and 30's and for her now her 40's.
I don't knock it, they have a very beautiful and supportive marriage.
I wish the future bride and groom a lifetime of sweetness and love.
You are very blessed to be able to witness the start of a beautiful marriage.

@AmbiePam It never ceases to amaze me that people who judge are really those that should stop, and think and re-evaluate their own circumstances. i see that whenever I come across someone who is really judgy.
Next Friday, October 3rd, will be our 38th wedding anniversary. I was given a 1/2 day off from work with pay, so I secretly asked for next Friday afternoon. I will surprise my husband and come over to see him with the girls. I am going to try to ask our son if he can take the afternoon off so that Dad and I can spend that time together. And if not, we will still be together, and enjoying the wonderful company of Willow and Harper.

People are too quick to judge aren’t they. I hope they have a long and happy and healthy life together….from what you say they will. I don’t know them, but I am happy for them. Hope they have a lovely day and hope that you will enjoy being part of it.
