October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hello fellow mylotters!!! For the last 3 years breast cancer has hit home,as my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and both breasts were removed. She went through chemotherapy and has been dealing with all that comes with it and through all of it she has stayed positive and has a sense of humor about it all. Then breast cancer hit closer home as I was diagnosed with breast cancer. So, I've had several mammograms and ultrasounds done. Had a biopsy and the latest was had a care team meeting of all the doctors that will be there when I have a lumpectomy (surgery to remove the cancerous spot) and radiation after I heal from the lumpectomy. The next couple weeks I have appointments to make sure I'm fit to have the surgery. Saw my regular physician and had x-rays of my lungs and an ekg. Tomorrow I have a bone density test and next Tuesday I will have something similar to a biopsy and they put a marker in place for the surgery. Then the next Wednesday I have physical therapy and the next day will be the surgery and then I get to come home and recoup. Then on the 28th I have a post op visit. Tentatively set to start radiation November 20. After the surgery, it'll probably be a week before I can return to work as for the first week ,no lifting over 3-5 pounds. So, ladies....do me a favor and have a mammogram done, be proactive!! For you ladies that have been dealt with breast care diagnosis, just remember God made us all perfect!!!! ~Peace~
