How do I work it out?

October 2, 2025 11:48pm CST
My struggle to retrieve my phone number linked to my bank account has been going on for five years or more now. My phone was stolen and nothing helped. No FIR, blockage, tracking over True Caller...and the phone is still ringing. No one takes the call. I have registered my new phone number with the bank. But at certain times when I log in to another site with the account number of this bank, OTP is sent to this earlier number linked to my account. I wonder how. I've just emailed this problem with the nodal officer.

Go to the bank in person or did you do that already.

Did. But despite getting the number changed, I wonder, why does the message pop up that the OTP has gone to that number? It should no longer show whenever I give the account number, isn't it?

This is a very serious issue. Sometimes the same bank has multiple systems where the older number is still present. It takes time to get all those updated.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! Dealing with this for five years must feel like a never-ending battle. It's smart that you've escalated it to the nodal officer—they typically have more authority to resolve these deep-seated system issues. Hopefully, this finally gets the old number completely purged from their system. Fingers crossed for a quick resolution!

You say it rings and no one picks it up and that is weird. I had my old phone connected to my Aadhar card and I had issues too until I updated my Aadhar.
