Before I moved to this silly county I lived in a different county and had a doctor that I went to twice a year basically for blood work labs done for my HBP (high blood pressure) and for my Vitamin D deficiancy. When I moved to this county I didn't have a car (still don't
) and my insurance plan then didn't provide transportation to medical appointments. So I made an appointment with a doctor that is nearby here but I never got to see her only a nurse practitioner. She had me take the blood work labs which I knew she would need to do to write my HBP prescription and to let me know what my level of Vitamin D was. She wouldn't write me an order for the lab. Her and the receptionist said that I didn't need one just to walk in. Which was not true!
I called back to the office and maid an appointment to have lab work done there. I went and got it done and was given an appointment to see my results and get my prescription. She said, "Yes you have high blood pressure." Well Duh! I have for almost thirty years at the time. She also told me that I still was deficient of Vitamin D. Then she said that my Cholesterol was high she thinks that it tested a 5. Then she ask's me if I fasted for the test? I said "No I never have before!" She also said that I had to for a Cholesterol test. I told her then that I didn't know I was having that done. Then she gave me a prescription for Cholesterol! I told her, "No that the test was not taken properly. So I will not take the meds I told her. She told me to take them and come back in three months and take the test again.
I checked and there is no such thing as a 5 as high Cholersterol. Above 200 is high!
Then I changed insurance that did provide transportation and I started going back to the doctor I had before. I told him and he asked me, "You didn't take those pills did you? Because you have never had a problem with your cholesterol."
That was almost a year and a half ago and about two weeks ago I went for my usual appointment to have my labs done, get my hbp meds and find out my status for my Vitamin D as usual. Entering the office was totally remodeled and I didn't recognize the office staff.
I had to ask and make sure that I was in the right place.
When the nurse called me back I didn't recognize her either!
They changed their routine around too, after she weighed me I used to get the labs then and see the doctor. Now we do the labs after.
I did not fast because I never had before and I was never told to this time either. The next day the doctor message's me on my hospital mychart telling me that I had high cholesterol and he wanted me to take meds for it. I texted him back that I did not fast and I want to take the tests over. And I have never had High Cholesterol before he told me. He didn't answer. The next day I called the nurse and she said, "According to your records you have had high cholesterol since 2013 and it's higher now. The doctor will not have the labs done again." I asked her then," Does a person need to fast when they have their cholesterol labs done?" And she said yes and I told her that I didn't. Then she said that the doctor still didn't want it done again!
I get the meds he wants me to take for the Cholesterol and I looked up the side effects with those meds. The number one side effect is inflammation! And the second one is headaches. And he knows I have Arthritis, Sciatica, Restless Leg Syndrome, Plantar Facitis as well as terrible migraines daily as a symptom from Fibromyalgia. Which they were all diagnosed by the head doctor in the practice he is in. I also have nerve damage in my arm too!
I already have enough inflammation and pain.
I am going to a clinic on Tuesday to get the labs done again while I am fasting and seeing what the results are.

How weird. I have never fasted before my cholesterol tests. I think that I would be doing some screaming after your experiences. Ugh! How strange.

I have texted the doctor on the mychart and have called and only get to speak to the nurse. And I don't know if it's her speaking just what she wants to say or what. And I am not sure if he is answering my text or what. I have heard that I need to fast for that test from the nurse, nurse practitioner and two different medical sites online. I will find out on Tuesday. But I will not take that medicine..... I don't need any more inflamation!

They should have told you about the fasting. I would find another doctor.
