My neighbour who lives just across my house sees me at the gate and ignores me completely But she sends me a friend's request on Face Book.
What's with the younger generation I say? Why is it they are not interested in meeting someone off line but would be happy to have them as friends online.
This seems a new trend but I belong to the old school of thouigh but sadly there is no more what used to be in the good old days - visiting neighbours.
What's your view?

Here the situation is so bad that some do not even come online but just attend events.

I don’t know either. But l think it’s safer knowing you online then be good in offline friendships later. Maybe your neighbor might be a bit intimidated by you so she sends via online request to see how you can be accommodating or friendly to her. If you ignore her request then that’s fine no harm if her request was ignored.

@allknowing I guess that is what is it right now. It reminds me of a former house helper she now resides far from where l am. Her kid befriended me online and accepted it without malice but he got annoyingly persistent until one day his true intentions were revealed he was asking for a loan from me. I completely ignored it since l know if l gave in to it he would continue asking me to lend him money.

That is fine when it comes to soemone you do not know but with neighbours there is no reason to go online and then connect off line.

I don't know what has happened to the personal touch these days. So many are wrapped up with online social media sites for communication. For long distance I can see it as it's convenient, but neighbors close by, I don't get it. The younger generations are always checking their phones even when in your presence.
Others just seem to distracted and busy to bother to make an extra effort to meet.

Neighbours do not visit each other any more. Yes. online is how one connects.
