Meryl Streep has gotten 21 Oscar nominations in the last 50 years. That is more than any other performer in Academy Awards history. She has won three Oscars: one for Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), one for Best Actress for Sophie's Choice (1982), and The Iron Lady (2011). Yet there are 18 Oscar losses (that's 14 for Best Actress, 4 for Supporting Actress). Her first loss was The Deer Hunter in 1978.

I like her, but she said something once that bothered me I never forgot. She said what she did was important than another industry in particular, and it really bothered me. It came off really poorly from a very rich woman. That doesn’t change her talent. I’d like to think she just didn’t understand. It’s awfully cute she’s dating Martin Short in real life. I’m sorry she’s separated from her husband though.

Or, perhaps what was said was taken out of context.

She's not one of my favorites; but she certainly has been prolific.
