Should happiness be the ultimate goal in life, or is there something more important?

We all like to be happy. We pursue happiness. Happiness makes us feel better. But what about purpose or fulfillment? Are those more important? What about a meaningful life? Sometimes having a meaningful life will involve sacrifices. Sacrifices take away our happiness. Which is more important? What then is the ultimate goal in life?

Health is most important because without it nothing else matters. But of course, I want to be healthy and happy, and I am sure we all define at least the latter part differently.

People don't realize that rich people aren't always happy. Without health or love, we're not happy no matter how much money we have.

@LooeyVille If you are not happy when you are poor, you will not be happy when you are rich. Happiness is something that comes from within. When I was not wealthy, I sought money for freedom, which would enhance happiness for me. But it can't buy it.

Happiness is a fleeing mystery to me. Survival is more important in our lives here Lou.

As a believer, serving God is the ultimate goal in life.

@looeyville I could be smug and repeat the truth that “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy him forever” but I won’t. It calls for to much unpacking for a Tuesday morning.
