I fasted since midnight last night to get a blood test taken at a clinic this morning for a correct Cholesterol count. I had never been to this clinic before. I signed in and a clerk came out within a few minutes and she told me that I could have the test done and that the results would be sent to both me and my doctor tomorrow and I could sit back in the lobby and the nurse would call me.
The nurse came out and called me, took me to the back, weighed me, checked my height and blood pressure then told me to go back to the waiting room because their were no rooms available.
So why did she call me back?
About ten minutes later another nurse came out and called me and took me to a room and asked me why I was there. The rooms were very cold and the techs agreed with me and said that they were always very cold. I told her and she said she would send a tech in. The tech came in and not their fault because my veins like to be difficult and she couldn't get the blood. She tried another spot still no good. Another tech came in. Didn't work! She got a nurse that finally got a place in my hand to work.
The tech's and nurse told me also that I would get the results in the next day, but they would not be sending them to my doctor!
So we were done and I was terribly hungry by now, therefore since I was not sick and just came in for the blood test I was getting ready to leave. The nurse stopped me saying that I had to wait for a doctor to come in and see me.
That nurse was kind enough to bring me water, 2 cups so I wouldn't get dehydrated. I was cold and hungry. So I told another nurse and she brought me a heated blanket, some crackers and a bottle of juice. Which was nice of her.
But it was about 20 minutes before the doctor came, she walked in and said to me ,"You came in for blood work to check your Cholesterol, that was done. You will get the results in 2 to 3 days. You may go."
First if she knew why I came and that it was all done then why did I have to sit there for 20 minutes?
Second, now it's different again I will get the results, but more days then the other people said.

Oh man, that treatment was so unorganized. You could have just gone home instead of waiting for a doctor to tell you you're done and can leave. Seriously? That's ridiculous. Waiting 20 minutes just to hear that? I thought the whole point was for him to consult with you and give a diagnosis.

Seems like they are a bit disorganized there and way too much waiting. I can't imagine how long it would take if you were there and sick. But, glad its over and hope your test comes back okay.
