Bulbs - it’s that time of year.

I planted bulbs today. Perhaps I ought to have waited a few weeks, but I’ll be away a few times and since we are having fine, dry, autumn weather I decided to take advantage off it. As well as planting some in the garden I’ve made a bulb lasagne and intend making a few more. In case the concept of a bulb lasagne is a new one for you, it’s where to plant layers of bulbs in a big pot. A layer of compost goes in first and on it is laid tulip bulbs. Then another layer of compost on which daffodil bulbs are planted. Another layer of compost is added then muscari bulbs and a final layer of compost. Water it and forget about it till spring. This way you get waves of colour as the bulbs flower in succession and the pot can be placed somewhere that will please and delight you. I’ve also potted up some white hyacinths and a shyness of white croci has gone into the front garden, just outside the front door. Hopefully I’ll have quite a bit of sparkle in my garden this spring. Then they’ll die away and come back even more abundantly next year. Do you plant bulbs?

I like the idea of a bulb lasagna. We had a landscaper plant a flower garden in front of the house; but it's looking rather poorly.

@lindaohio Keeping a garden in good shape is exhausting even though it’s so rewarding.

@xFiacre I think the flowering plants could use some fertilizer.

I used to plant bulbs when we had a garden. I like to see those flowers blooming in early spring. I am going to buy some planters and to plant on the balcony.
