That darn cat won't sit on his expensive cat tree

Last Christmas I got Nico a nice expensive cat tree, with a hammock birds, seat, toy, hutch etc. It was unstable when I first put it together as the directions got wet. anyway, son is quite good with anything carpentry or mechanical or electrical. He was able to put everything together properly so I brought it back down here and he still won;t use it. Well, actually what he does is ocasionally sit on the very bottom, and has swiped at the toys on it. One time I caught him chewing the string..I have sprinkled catnip on it, cats are funny sometimes it takes them a long time to use anything..but he doesn't seem impressed by this piece. It makes me sad.
