I ordered the memorial wreath for my uncle this afternoon

My uncle passed suddenly a week and a half ago. Unfortunately it was not unexpected. (he was beyond morbidly obese) He was a kind, animal-loving, smart, and incredibly funny man. My mother, father, and sister refused to speak to him and my 2 aunts and another uncle) for years for reasons not worth getting into. I stayed in touch with him because I just don't think like they do. I was the first person my aunt called to share the sad news. I tried to order a wreath from a local grocery store but they claimed they don't deliver which I know for a fact they have done in the past. They recommended a well-known local florist. Fine. I was texting my ex last night about some stuff and I asked if I could borrow the 4Runner (he has 2 cars) over the weekend to pick up the wreath. He wasn't inclined to let me which seriously pissed me off. I was like "oh so you let random friends use it for a week but I can't use it for an hour? I paid for half of it!" Yeah that exchange didn't end pleasantly. This morning I received a text from him telling me where he left the keys (he is going to be out of town this weekend), warning me that the gas tank was empty, and that the gas door was broken and how to get it open. I would have been fine filling the gas tank but messing around with how to get it open was something I didn't want to have to deal with so I decided to just go with the other florist. They of course deliver. Anyway I stopped by there on my way back from work. Last week I ordered pennants for the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers as my uncle was a huge fan of Philadelphia sports. I told the woman that I wanted a memorial wreath and asked if they could incorporate the pennants. I was surprised that I teared up. She said yes. She showed me some options. We decided that an all-white wreath would be best to make the pennants pop. She took the information and then asked me what I wanted on the card. I thought for about 10 seconds and again was surprised that my lip was quivering when I said "I love you Uncle Buddy. Love, NJChicaa". The whole thing took like 10 minutes. It cost $285. That is a lot but he deserves it and I know that the funeral home takes the arrangements apart and sends the flowers to local retirement homes so they can be enjoyed. I am dreading going to the visitation but I am looking forward to seeing the finished wreath.

It’s going to be amazing, and I know they will appreciate it. He really does sound like a fantastic man.

Glad you were able to get that wreath and show you love, Visitations are tough; best of luck and hang in there,
