Last night was hell in a handbasket, and I don't know how much time I have to work on George. He ate last night, but not a lot, which makes me think he can't swollow as well as he thinks he can, and my time with him maybe barrowed. I think the stroke recovery process is taking its tole on his mental and emotional health, and I need to keep an eye on that. I don't feel he's a suicide risk, because he seems willing to try, but change isn't easy..... and he's got huge goals to reach. I'm hoping I can help him turn things around, but we have good and bad days.

This is so hard for both of you. No, change isn't easy, and you can't force it on anyone. I am hoping for the best for both of you, that he can turn it around.

I know no one lives forever, and it's not easy. I watched my parents die, so it could also be me over-thinking it, because it's all coming back. I know he's allowed to feel how he feels, because it's a huge change. Kind of a grief-deniel reaction to not having something. I'm trying my level best to help him, but I can't force anything.

So sorry you are having such a bad time, I hope that bit by bit things can improve. One of the problems I see is that you and George cannot have a reall heart to heart about how things really are. I don't know if this could be of help or give you new ideas but here it is
