Hurry Up and Waiting

The photo is my son using his new tractor at sunset here on the property. UPDATE: Mylot keeps giving an error when I try to upload.
Today’s supposed to be the big day — the house is scheduled to arrive, in two pieces, all the way from 400 miles out!
Of course, as luck would have it, another storm rolled in last night. There’s been no word of delay so far, so I’m staying hopeful it still comes this afternoon. I don’t dare leave, though — if they show up before I get back, I wouldn’t be able to get up the mountain in time.
The driveway here is a steep one — about a 20% grade — so they’ll have to use a rented bulldozer just to pull the house up. The little road will be blocked for a bit, but it’s not a main road. There are only three properties out here, and everyone can go around the other way if they need to.
Once it’s in place, we still have a list of things to finish: septic, transformer, electric, water, and plumbing. The water setup ended up costing more than expected, so I’m hoping we can get the rest done this week. I can’t wait to stop hauling water with the portable bladder or using the low boy to pump and haul the RV black tank. It’ll be such a relief to have proper hookups.
Most days are a mix of chores — stacking wood, cutting down alder trees (they’re invasive around here), and running errands in town. It’s a quiet little town of under 3,000 people, with a big river that flows in from the bay about seven miles away.
We share this place with all sorts of wildlife — mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, elk, deer, and plenty of birds: blue jays, doves, owls… even chipmunks, red and gray squirrels, and the occasional mouse or rat. Forest living means staying alert, but honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for the city life.
Hopefully, I’ll have good news and a house update soon. It’s been such a long, drawn-out process.
How’s the weather where you are? Anyone else living rural or waiting on something big?
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

I hope everything goes smoothly for you. The weather is chilly here. Unfortunately winter will be here before we know it. I live in a semi-rural area with lots of nurseries. I have 1.25 acres which is nice. Good luck.

@LindaOHio Nope. No house and no news about it. They did originally say weather permitting and it's been pretty stormy.

Always something left to finish, huh? I didn't see where a picture came over. The wildlife would be nice to share with. I will look forward to more updates.
