I am not a sports fan. That's left to my wife. But I do support two teams, one in football and one in baseball.
The Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
It's probably a product of my deep ties with Wisconsin having lived most of my life there or having throngs of family ties there—although I do not live in Wisconsin now.
So, it was nice to see, and even enjoyable to watch, the Milwaukee Brewers pounce the Chicago Cubs and move on to the NLCS against the Dodgers. I will probably be watching several of those games.
It would be nice to see the Brewers advance to the World Series, something they have not enjoyed the victory of since 1982 when they were part of the AL and went against the St. Louis Cardinals—a series they lost unfortunately.
Let's hope they can annihilate the Dodgers and get there. Fingers crossed.

When I lived in the US as a child, my father had work at the University in Madison. So, for me, Wisconsin is also a very special place in your country. May your teams win.

@marguicha That too. It really is a beautiful state, I think.

I have a feeling that the Brewers will beat the Dodgers in the N L C S as a tribute to Bob Uecker since they have the pitching to lead them to victory.

They didn’t “pounce” the Cubs, it was a close game.
I normally don’t root for the Brewers because of Bud Selig’s ownership of them and his atrocious time as Commissioner of Baseball (although I’ll give Rob Manfred credit, he’s been so terrible that he makes Selig look good in comparison!); however, they’re playing for Ueck, and I’ll always root for Ueck.

@porwest - 16-1 is pouncing. And yes, the only place scoring counts is that silly “aggregate” in soccer. One of my least favorite stats is run differential. The Indians , sorry, Guardians, had a negative run differential and were in the playoffs. So what did it prove to put it in the win-loss category?

Fair enough. I will still call it a win, close or not. Does closeness really matter, in any event? I mean, if a guy goes in the ring with Mike Tyson, and Tyson throws a single knockout punch, he's only one point up but the other guy's still on the ground counting stars.
I'd call that a "pounce." Just saying. lol
As for team owners, they are who they are. I don't pay much attention to them because really, they have little to do with the team or the game itself. Granted, you do form other opinions if an owner becomes a commissioner and starts making decisions that affect everyone.
Still...

@porwest What did the Guardians do this year? I hate that name that they chose.

@LindaOHio I don't know. I really don't keep up with sports. Yeah...it's a dumb name. Kind of like the Washington Commanders. Meh. lol
