Did it ever just come to you?

Loo's post about snapping made me think of something. When I was takingSpanish and French in school our language teachers were always trying to get us to trill our R's like they do in Mexico and I guess Spain. I could never do it. The same with the throaty or accented R in French. I used to practice these could never do it. One day the trill came to me when I was saying Ruffles have Ridges (TV commercial) About that time, I found I could also make the throaty French R. Did you ever have a skill like that or something else just "come to you?"

No, I don’t think I ever had. I always wanted to be able to roll my Rs though.

Practice with Ruffles have Ridges. You have to blow hard behind the R's. Tongue to the roof of the mouth.

Accents are hard to learn. I can read classics in English as if they were written in Spanish. But I just can´t TALK in English.

Spaniards roll their R a lot more than Mexicans. I lived 31 years in a French speaking country, I learnt to do the French R., not as well as Edith Piaf, but pretty well.
