Inferior Plays Superior

Some years ago, I wound up working with someone who proved to be one of those people who knows he is inferior so behaves as if he is superior. The office was covered with awards he had gotten, photographs, all sorts of items to 'prove' he was 'somebody'. I found him more of an 'exhibit' then anything else, and could predict his reactions. I wasn't the only one. It seemed everyone in the office from the messenger to the helper to the secretary read him like a street sign and knew how to play him. Just as everyone has now learned how to play Trump, we learned how to play him. We could predict that he would deny what he thought we wanted, take credit for our actions which were positive, and berate us what he considered negative. To 'own' him required a sense of deferment, humility, and acting impressed. We'd brag about him to people who would spread the farce so he'd think that we elevated him behind his back. I recall my last day. Saying nothing, I deleted all important documents on my computer and walked out without a word. And never came back. Later I learned that all the others at the office did the same thing in tandem.

Did he just "carry on"? As you know, I believe Trump's sense of inferiority comes from his early Dyslexia. But I have not seen a lot of people write about that.

I had been in UWI with the guy. He was nobody. He was at the bottom of the class. So I didn't expect him to behave as he did. He was disbarred about a year after I left. He has lost all the various positions he held during his short span of 'superiority'. I have a friend who is dyslexic... I am dyscalculate. We both recognised our 'weaknesses'. He went on to become very successful in computer engineering. If Trump recognised his flaw he could become human but clearly he can't.

@jaylar What is UWI? I cannot diagnose Trump, as [ have never met the guy. But his symptoms are consistent with Dyslexia and early attachment issues.

@TheHorse UWI... University of the West Indies. The chap I went to UWI with was nothing. He had an inflated opinion of himself. He was able to get various positions in early days when people were deceived by his presentation. But once they realised he was nothing, dropped him as if he never existed.

Those types are pathetic. They are so into their own worlds that there is nothing you can do to humanize them. I'm sorry that the whole office had to deal with him. I worked for a woman that was that way. I even took evidence to the higher up and they would do nothing. This cutthroat individual was making big money for the company and so they wouldn't get rid of her. It takes all kinds to make up this world. All you can do is just what you did.

I was amazed by him... I couldn't believe his behaviour, so that's why I didn't quit in a week. I took it as a learning experience... which has done well, for looking at Trump is looking at him.
