In this country if you have money, a well-spoken lawyer, and good story to tell you can get off of any charge nowadays. Trump has proven this time and time again. It's all in how the law reads, how it is executed and how it can be manipulated. I think the law has very little to do with justice too. If you don't come before a decent judge, you might as well be ready for whatever they want to do to you. It has a lot to do with how much evidence can be brought, the verbal wording of the case, and in many cases timing. I also do not think that the laws our forefathers set down for this country to be led by are interpreted in the way they wanted them to be. Very rarely do lawmakers of today see the fundamental attributes these laws really had in them.
