A.I. is the end of the world, not nukes...

We are told Nuclear War (10-1) or an asteroid hit (1000-1) is the most likely end of the world this century. But we are told man made global warming is the biggest immediate risk although Putin may disagree. I still think nuclear war is far more likely to do more damage than global warming ever will. i would prefer it be warmer in the U.K. winters. That paradox of the more carbon fuel we burn in the winter to keep warm then the warmer it will gets means the less carbon fuel we will use.
Now, the real risk and the one not talked about is Artificial Intelligence, its technology racing on exponentially. Did you know American nuke technology has A.I chips involved them now? Terminator 2 is becoming increasingly likely.
But the big risk comes from industry embracing A.I. not so much to make work more easy for humans but to get rid of them from the workplace. A.I will do lot of jobs and we are not talking in the distant future. Its estimated around 8 million jobs a year world wide will be lost around from 2030. Just as blue-collar jobs got hit hardest by new technology in the 1960s and 70s its white collar set to take the biggest hit this time.
Any job that involves basic admin or knowledge based work will be easy to A.I upgrade. An example would be all known law will be on a database by 2030 and people will pay $10 for that advice, destroying the legal trade overnight. The legal trade may try to hold advocate prices really high but simply undercut online. U.K lawyers charge £240 per hour. It's the same with medicine, virtual doctors diagnosing your sickness and drugs sent to you at home. Tick off the trade and you can see the savings will be huge. journalism is already getting hammered. Virtual newsreaders and TV presenters easy to do now.
The problem is then mass unemployment, A.I a net loss job creator. What will university graduates do if heir jobs dont exist? How can we afford unemployment welfare for millions more? Why would you pay 35k to go to university? Will we see mass unrest or will the third world, not embracing A.I so much, begin to become more powerful as more people in work there spending wages? Those A.I bots working away are not paid a dime so corporations profits will rise again. 50% of most businesses costs are wages.
But it gets worse still. If these A.I Bot employees are not spending their wages like the humans replaced then where is the demand for the products? You will have far less consumers in a world where the population has doubled in the last 50 years. Its catastrophic. A.I may well find the cure for cancers but that means people will live longer and so need more pension and welfare? In fact it won't take too long for A.I to make humans live much longer ( dare I say immortal) by stopping cell deterioration. And worse still no one seems to want to stop this madness.
Look how business ground to a halt this week as Amazon servers went down. Now we are shocked to find out that one third of the worlds businesses use the servers of just three corporations. Amazon server outage took down 1000 businesses in the UK. We are choosing to be totally enslaved to I.T . Our highstreet banks are closing and our money increasingly out of our reach. Just imagine the dangers of advanced criminal gangs using A.I to get into our accounts?

Suddenly I am glad I am coming to the end of my years and hope that whatever is left the Lord will see me through,

I agree with Rasma. More and more I am glad I am as old as I am. But what of my kids? This causes me some anxiety.
A.I.could just take over. It won't stop. It helps the rich get richer. Amazon has us in the palm of their hands.
Just imagine Musk may already has all our accounts information. Here in the US anyway.
