Perhaps our American friends know of the Head of the Charles Regatta, touted as the world’s biggest and most famous rowing event. This prestigious event was held on the Charles River which separates Boston from Cambridge. The route passes Harvard University Boat Club.
The West Australian group, the Black Swans, made up of four Olympic medallists, and several former national and international rowers, won the Men's Grand Master Eights division, for rowers over 50. The boats are sent off every 15 seconds to navigate a winding 3-mile course. The Swans, all fathers, in their 50s and will full time jobs, started well back in their division and had to weave in and out of slower boats on their way to gaining fastest time.
What I found especially interesting is that their coxswain is a woman, Bourby Webster. She has an unusual name for a start but she also founded the Perth Symphony Orchestra and was awarded Western Australian of the Year (Arts & Culture) in 2019. Don’t some people have interesting stories?
I don’t have a rowing photo so you’re getting one of our own beautiful Swan River.

That is a big achievement!
Kudos to the Western Australian group !
And sorry no kudos to Adam Zampa & rest of the folks to lead Indian cricket team to a 0-2 ODI series defeat.
The good part was that the Indian team put up a good fight today.
Four Olympic medallists is a big number.
All of this shows the superb sporting culture in Australia.
Plus the athletes' own skill & willpower as well.
