Happy Birthday to you, squashed tomatoes and stew !

Do you remember when you were a kid and when it was your Birthday someone would say "Happy Birthday to you, squashed tomatoes and stew " and then would burst into hysterical laughter as they thought it was the funniest thing ever ?
Well, it may have been funny when you were six but I know someone of 59 who is STILL saying it .....and frankly it's not funny anymore.
What makes it worse is the person and I know a lot of the same people so I see it often from him .
What makes it even worse still , is that he is an ex boyfriend of mine .....what on earth did I see in him .....lucky escape I think !

I've never heard that phrase. I think you probably did make a lucky escape.

There were some really weird sayings when I was at school. Thankfully I've forgotten them all. lol
