There is very sad news everywhere about the recent layoffs at Amazon. Many people are losing their jobs, which is causing a lot of emotional, financial, and mental stress. Such situations deeply affect not only those who are layoff but also the employees who are still working, as they live under constant pressure and uncertainty.

It's just business and nothing new. It's been this way for 100s of years, with every company that has ever existed. As for job loss, if I have said it once I have said it a million times:
Never, ever rely on a paycheck. Never, ever see a job as a guarantee. Be prepared for potential job loss. Have an emergency fund in place with 6 months worth of income stashed away in it. Save. Invest. Generate multiple sources of income so that when one source fails another one picks things up.
If job loss deeply affects someone, or causes emotional, financial or mental stress, it's the employee's fault. Not the company's. The purpose of a business is not to employ people. It is to make a profit for its shareholders. Employment is simply a byproduct of success and profitability, and there comes a time when it only makes sense to employ a certain amount of people.
Cutting jobs actually saves jobs, because if a business employs people it does not need, eventually profits will falter, and if profits falter, the whole business may go under meaning EVERYONE loses their job.
Businesses make decisions that are conducive to the health of their business. Employees should do the same with regard to their financial lives.

@Starkinds Because most people are not prepared, are financially inept, and don't plan, and everyone wants to make the rich guy out to be the bad guy. It's misdirected anger and false. People want to tug at heart strings and hear sob stories. But if you know the real story, the sob stories become...
Too bad, so sad, and I really don't care that they have lost their jobs. lol
If the company doesn't need the workers, it doesn't need the workers. There's nothing more to buy into that than that.
