When I was a young girl about 10-12 I lived in Pocatello, Idaho. I loved to play marbles when the neighbor kids. If I saw a marble I liked I'd play for that marble and got quite a collection going. As time went on watching movies and being around my corny mom and funny grandmother, I learned the phrase "Have you lost your marbles?" So, each time I come across my jar of marbles I chuckle to myself and think "I found my marbles!"
The game of marbles has been played for thousands of years. It was even an event in the Summer Olympics in the early 1900s. An Opaque Lutz marble is rare and worth $25,800. The largest and rarest is the Divided Core Swirl and is worth $27,700.
