In what can be counted as a landmark moment (or watershed?) in Indian women's cricket, Indian women's team led by Smriti Mandhana won the ODI(One Day International) Women's world cup, 2025. In a way, what Men's team could not do in 2023(lost in the finals to Aussies), the women's team has done. A great achievement indeed. I do not have any news links or images as of now. May be I can put later. Indian team beat South Africa by 52 runs. India made 298 and South Africa were bowled out for 246 runs. South Africa captain made a great 100 plus score but it was not enough. Shafali verma(87 of 78 balls) and 2 wickets and Dipti Sharma - 5 wickets were the main stars of the Indian win, along with useful contributions from some other players. A win that would be remembered for a long long time. The match telecast and highlights were available on Jio HotStar Streaming network.
