I am ready

We've had just a few overcast rainy days and I am ready for Christmas lights and silly jingly songs. Thanksgiving means very little to us two oldsters. Hubby is already cringing from my possible menu: 3 bean salad and deviled eggs PLUS pecan pie? Too much food for him. Nix the stuffed mushrooms. Mr. Handyman called to tell me that back East storms have delayed his getting blown in insulation. He is not insulating the little house that hubby had to have. Not doing that job today. Maybe Wednesday? I will just sit here in my chair and puzzle out more of my latest short story and let the heat pump blow warm air on me. If I fall asleep, that's fine by me. Meantime I am thinking about Christmas trees and silly bright lights.

I know what you mean. George and I drove on the beach side today and I saw poles covered in green garland and red bows.

@sallypup Not sure what you mean, but beachside is typically viberent by design, but apparently they decided to get festive.

@kaylachan You must be living in a very bright, sunny world compared to me. Green and red! love it.

I do love Christmas, and wish there were more than a month to “officially” celebrate. I am very glad Thanksgiving is a holiday, and heaven knows the country needs to be more grateful for what we have (me included), but Christmas is so much fun!

@sallypup The years my mom had dementia holidays were dark, dreary, and depressing. However, the kids and the joy Diana brings gave us renewed life. I’m glad for myself, but oh so thrilled for my dad.

@AmbiePam I am deeply sorry about your Mom's situation. What a sad time for your Dad. I'm glad he has joy again.

Does hubby like tofurkey? Sis always makes that green bean casserole for Tgiving. I will politely take a spoonful and pass it on. There will be other things to eat.

@snowy22315 Hubby used to make fun of tofurkey. He just isn't interested in food these days though he still likes sweets.

I used to make great big Thanksgiving meals for my mom and her friends then they did not have this holiday all the years I lived in Latvia and turkeys there were expensive and now I just have the memories and watch old Macys Thanksgiving Day parades on YouTube since NYC is my hometown,

@RasmaSandra You must love some of the parts of Miracle on 34th Street.

I like the fact that a local radio station in Lake Charles will be playing Christmas music starting at the end of Thanksgiving through Christmas.

@sallypup Especially the Christian radio station that plays the songs, and the disc jockey tells the listener who was the artist.
