Not in the grand scheme of things, that is. We have been the dominant species on Earth for some 50,000 years. We, Ho mo Sapiens ("wise men" in Greek) have been on Earth only 0.0067% of its existence. Ho mo Sapiens emerged in Africa about 300,000 years ago.
Though our ancestors coexisted with Neanderthal's and Denisovans scientists are not sure if they encountered other types of humans that also existed there such as Ho mo Floresiensis, Ho mo Luzonians, Ho mo Naledi, and Ho mo Erectus.
Theories run from superior brain power, dumb luck, and even interpersonal skills as to why we survived where they did not.
Ho mo Erectus holds the record for time on the planet. About 1.5 million years that is. But we left the most sizeable footprint.

I'm still gobsmacked how we evolved from next to nothing. There had to be some divine intervention.

I think the intervention was a meteor or such. No belief in God or contrived Bible stuff.
