Trying to come up with an idea for the Baking Club meeting next week

I have no idea what to do with the kids. We've done caramel apples and Day of the Dead cupcakes. I was thinking of decorating turkey-shaped sugar cookies but I am not great with the decorating. I've never used royal icing. There's only 1 stove in the classroom. I want to do something where we can be done and cleaned up by 2:30. There just isn't enough time and equipment to do anything complicated. This whole thing is starting to stress me out. I don't even know why I agreed to do this.

You did it because you want to foster a sense of pride and accomplishment in young people? I can’t imagine how stressful it is though. I like your turkey cookie idea. I imagine you could decorate a cookie well enough not to embarrass yourself. As for the stove…Are you sure you don’t want to use the school cafeteria (I THINK they offered if my mind is still intact).

@NJChicaa I was picturing OUR school’s kitchen. I forgot how much bigger and “more involved” a public school kitchen would be.

They have the Pillsbury cookies that have turkeys in the middle. You could just put a little embellishment on those. That would simplify it. I mean they probably don't need it, but would be easy.

@NJChicaa Could you make rocky road? That doesn't actually require any baking (so no problem about ovens) but it does involve mixing things up and melting chocolate?
