Sorry for being absent.
So how's your Undas? Undas here in the Philippines is every November 1 or the All Soul's day.
It's my mama's second undas.
As a way to remember my mama this occasion, I spend the whole day in the cemetery for her. When my mama is still alive, I just spend half day or just a few hours in the afternoon.
It is a happy, festive occasion. Once a year the quiet cemetery turn into a festive place. Lots of people visit the grave of their loved ones. Lots of food vendors, flower vendors and candle vendors.
We need to leave the house as early as 5am if we want our vehicle to get inside the cemetery because as early as 6am traffic is already heavy.
We bring sandwich, rice and menudo and some pancit for our food.
It is a happy occasion as we see there in the cemetery our friends, relatives and other acquaintances.
Hope we have a good November
Also when I was a kid, we collect melted candles and turn them into balls. But now there are people outside the cemetery buying melted candles for 30 pesos per kilo. So a lot of kids who want to have money will bring their scraper and plastic bags to get all the melted candles in every grave and put them in plastic bags

It seems like such a unique thing to have a celebration at a cemetery, but I understand it is a holiday observed in many countries. In America, it is not really celebrated. It sounds like a nice way to remember a loved one though, happily.
We have Memorial Day in America, where a lot of people decorate the graves of loved ones, especially those who served their country, but it is a somber day.
It is always so wonderful to see you when you can pop in.

Yeah I heard of the Memorial Day in America before. Regular days it is somber in cemeteries there are people but not crowded. Undas celebration here is very crowded some celebrate before or after the Undas to avoid the crowded cemeteries

Beautiful flowers are sold during Undas. Here people are allowed if they want to have picnic or bring food while staying in the cemeteries

@averygirl72 In our culture is considered offensive to eat food in the cemeteries.
