Trump's lawyers have filed two claims that he alleges he was damaged by several federal investigations and prosecutions he faced during his first term and while he was out of office and is seeking $230 million in damages. One is from 2016 and the investigation into whether Russia helped win that election. The second was filed in 2024 accusing the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) of violating his privacy when they searched his Mar-a-Lago estate. Also, that he mishandled classified documents. He feels that Democratic Officials actually weaponized the justice system against him.
So far, the federal government has paid out $207 million in settlements made against the Justice Department with over 250 claims.
If the DOJ agrees to Trumps demands taxpayers will be paying that bill.
Trump acknowledged on Tuesday(10/21) that he "could be" seeking this amount. He says he'd give it to charity.
Pam Bondi, Head of the Justice Department as U.S. Attorney General fired her top ethnic advisor in July and Trump has vacated nearly all the eternal oversight office.

I'm not sure how I feel. I don't like the way they are doing busy in this administration. I know that.
