I have always been fascinated by serial killers. I don't think they are cool, no. I am just interested in what makes them who they are. Recently I watched a YouTube interview with an award-winning author, Carol Fraser, who has recently written a book on the subject entitled "Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers." It is a fascinating book.
A serial killer is a person who kills 2 or more people on separate occasions. There are many reasons for the psychosis that leads these men (and some women) to kill like this. But in her book, she addresses one I hadn't thought of before: that of metal. Metals are in our water and in some areas, it is in the soil. Lead and arsenic that cause aggression and violence in some if they ingest a lot of it over time. I may have read this before but never took it seriously until now.
There is also hereditary (scientists have found a warrior gene) causes as well as early trauma, diet, brain injuries, and I'm sure there are others I am not thinking of. But I thought this new finding was illuminating and so very interesting. It makes so much sense. This really helped me since I have felt for so long that there is something else that we aren't seeing that makes them the way they are.
The author actually examined the toxic areas of the Pacific Northwest which is where many serial killers came from in the 70s and 80s. I had added below the URL to an article about her book.

Serial killers have fascinated people all the time. There are many films about them. Most are quite intelligent but twisted in one way or another.

And there are those like Jeffrey Dahmer that I just wrote about. His mother was taking 27 pills a day during her pregnancy with Jeffrey. I can't help but think that contributed to his problems.
