Some things didn’t turn out so bad

It hasn’t been a great year for the garden. It started off OK but the summer was very dry. It wasn’t as hot as some of the recent summers have been, thankfully, but the lack of rain was a real issue. Although I have ten water butts, filling cans of water and carting them around the garden every day is incredibly time-consuming, and still not as effective as a good shower of rain. My vegetable plants mostly survived, but they certainly didn’t thrive.
But then came a mild damp autumn. It’s November and we haven’t had a frost yet, even the nights have been quite mild, and it has been quite showery. My squash plants had a new lease of life. I harvested half a dozen courgettes last week, and the pumpkins suddenly put on a spurt and managed to produce some quite impressive results before they succumbed to the cooler temperatures.
We had a ‘guess the weight of the pumpkin’ competition with the biggest (top right) – I won with 12 kg. That ought to do a few meals!
At last I have been able to add the photo!!

Yes, they are having the photo problem again. Maybe you can post a picture on a future Discussion.

@LindaOHio Hopefully tasty too. They are an Italian variety which we like very much.
