An Update on the UPS Plane Crash in Louisville, Kentucky

United States
November 5, 2025 6:21am CST
As @FourWalls told you late yesterday afternoon, a UPS Plane crashed shortly after taking up from the Worldport Hub in Louisville, Kentucky. At least 7 people are dead but they expect it to be higher once they figure everything out. 11 people were injured. The fires were voluminous because the plane was fully loaded with enough fuel to get it to Hawaii. There was no hazardous cargo on board the plane This news photo shows the wide path of the fire and houses affected. Schools are closed today and the NTSB will arrive on scene today to begin their investigation. Very sad news here locally as UPS is our largest employer and very important to our city.

I heard about this. It's sad; and I can't help but wonder why there have been so many plane crashes. A lack of air traffic controllers???

This was apparently caused by an engine failure. But of course, they won't know what really happened until they complete an investigation.

I just read an update about 30 minutes ago. It’s very sad, and I can’t fathom how families feel when they get the news.

I haven’t pulled myself out of bed yet, but traffic cameras show my normal route near the airport is flowing smoothly. I’ve temped at UPS a number of times, once at the tire facility near the airport.

Gosh it hadn't occurred to me that you are right there. What a disaster, and that certainly won't help anyone with a fear of flying! My heart goes out to the victims and their families and friends.

You hate to say it, but thankfully this was not a passenger plane. Not good either way, of course.
