My Favorite Song Titles Which Use a Space Reference

Don McLean wrote a song called "Vincent" which referenced Vincent van Gogh's painting "Starry Night." van Gogh's inspiration came from looking out his window at the morning sky.
I'm sure music artists also find similar fascination from looking up at the sky filled with celestial objects. Using science, fantasy, and emotion, musicians can transport us into the vast expanse of the universe, "space."
Here's a six-pack of my favorite songs using objects from space. Maybe you can add another "STAR" or "SPACE OBJECT" TITLED song to my playlist, lol.
6. "Shining Star"- With this 1975 #1 hit Earth, Wind & Fire tapped into the emerging Disco sound so popular in the mid to late 70's. This upbeat tune was one of many from this group who expressed a positive energetic vibe to their music. This made EWF the first black act to top both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles charts. If you were old enough, did you get out your "Boogie Shoes" on and dance to this tune?
5. "Venus"- Take your pick Shocking Blue's or the female vocal trio Bananarama's cover, both tunes hit the #1 spot on the charts. Or if you don't like either version, perhaps the Oldie "VENUS" a #1 tune by Frankie Avalon, a completely different song, is your favorite planet choice.
4. "Walking on the Moon"- There are quite a few "Moon titled" songs I could have picked as my favorite but I went with this 1979 track from The Police. Sting's song is set in space, but it's his story of how he felt when he was on the road, confined to hotel rooms and stages as the world kept turning. I'm sure you've heard the expression "I'm over the moon" a way to describe happiness. Seems Sting was not feeling that kind of moon when he wrote this tune.
3. "Moondance"- The moon landing was a big event in 1969 providing inspiration and an easy song title for artists because all you have to do is look up. So, I'll second that inspiration with this 1970 song. Van Morrison uses the moon as a metaphor to express the exhilaration and magic of love. This jazzy and upbeat tune is one of my favorite Morrison tracks. The other is "Brown Eyed Girl, a song "Van the Man" hated. Go figure!
2."Space Oddity"- "Major Tom to ground control take your protein pill and put your helmet on." Released in 1969, the track fit right in with the space euphoria from the moon landing. A great early Bowie success, this song perfectly captures the sense of human isolation of being stranded in space against the scenery of the universe.
TRIVIA CHALLENGE- NAME THAT TUNE!
***Can you figure out the mystery song title from the clues provided... Words with quote marks provide valuable hints!
1. This "1972" tune is another song about the "loneliness of space travel." This track conveys the astronaut’s internal conflict as he "rockets" into space, leaving his family behind. Seems in this song the life of an "astronaut in space" is not all excitement and glamour. This song was the musicians biggest hit at this point in his career, out charting his first top ten hit, "Your Song." The "piano player" didn't look back after that "rocketing" onto the charts following that "Yellow Brick Road" to major "stardom."
-Do you know the artist, and can you name his song?
Honorable Mentions- "Across the Universe"- The Beatles, "Total Eclipse of the Heart"- Bonnie Tyler, "Blue Moon"- The Marcels...
Did I miss any "other worldly tunes?"
Till the next one...

That is correct. The song title "Rocket Man" also became one of Elton's nicknames and he embraced it!

Nice! 2 songs rate stars
I remember another song by Bananarama called "Cruel Summer" which also did well on the hit charts.
And yes, you get a "gold star" for the correct answer.
