Can you believe it is only 16 days until Thanksgiving? The holidays come on so quickly, don't they? Well, as is my MO here at Mylot I have compiled some facts about the holiday. Not just the basics but some rather off the wall ones. Here goes:
* People actually eat more pies on Thanksgiving that they do turkey. It is estimated that 50 million pumpkin pies are consumed. And that is just the pumpkin pie variety.
* In November 1926 President Calvin Coolidge was gifted a racoon to serve for Thanksgiving dinner. Vinnie Joyce from Nitta Yuma, Mississippi, sent President Coolidge a live raccoon to serve. Instead, the President adopted the raccoon as a family pet and named it Rebecca!
* In 2023 90.6 million people took their shopping online. Black Friday was a great option for about 73.6 million people who shopped in-store. This was a 4.5% jump from 2022. And if that wasn’t enough, 90.6 million people took their shopping online, marking a 3.9% increase.
* In 1863 Abraham Lincoln pardoned the first turkey and after that it became an annual tradition. From 2005 until 2009 the pardoned turkeys were sent to Disneyland for some VIP treatment. They served as serve as the honorary grand marshals of Disney’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
* Don't forget about this option-- Each year Butterball experts take over 100,000 calls during November and December. It seems that some of the questions are pretty funny.

My daughter always wanted one. She had pet rats for several years. Racoons can't be any worse and they are much cuter.

I do too. I eat a lot of it this time of year. It has to have whipped cream on it though.
