I haven’t posted on here for days. So many things came up to post about but everything makes more sense with a photo to go with it! At the weekend I went on a bit of a shopping spree. Partner’s parents gave me some money for my birthday a little while ago so I – somewhat predictably – spent it on plants, specifically lots of spring bulbs. Now I first have to find time to plant them all (260 in total) and then find ways to stop the deer eating the tulips – thankfully they don’t like daffodils and don’t seem keen on crocuses either. I made a start on one bed, but then yesterday we had torrential rain so not a good gardening day. Have you planted spring bulbs or do you have some already? Those colourful packets have me drooling, My Mum had a big patch of daffodils and was very proud of them. Later in life when she didn't really need anything, we'd buy her a bag or two of potting mix for her birthday.

It sounds unimaginative but I'm sure she appreciated it!

@Fleura She was of the age where you shouldn't have to buy 'earth' or 'water' and she was always quite frugal so she was always pleased to get potting mix - or else she put on a good act! lol

Maybe build a barb wire fence to prevent them from jumping in and start snacking,.

It's impossible to fence all around our garden, at least not without spending hundreds of thousands of pounds because of the way it's all laid out (hard to explain) so I just have to fence around each part I want to protect.

You sound like my stepmom! The only thing she tend to spend money on is plants. And that’s a wise purchase.

Try planting the ones they don't like with the ones they do.

@fleura My crocuses and some of my daffodils are planted and already up. Too early. Weather is too warm. Also planted are tulips, hyacinth, irises and muscari. Now I just need to remember what went where, though I’ve got quite a few coming up in pots.

It's unseasonably warm here too but no bulbs appearing yet.
