Who Do I Honor on This Day?

I don't get to the cemetery, but I recall my grandmother used to go. She knew so many soldiers from several wars. She was a nurse's aide when she was young.
I honor my grandfather, Orsa Drake Moore (he was called O.D.) He was in the first world war. An Army man. He always wore a beret, and he reminded me of a typical Scotsmen. He managed a Safeway store here in Boise and was the one who actually trained Joe Albertson. My grandmother loved to tell that story.
Then there is my father, Clyde Roger Sherrill. He was in the Navy. I have a picture of his and a friend downstairs. He was a quiet man and didn't talk much. This was the reason my mom divorced him. I asked him once about a terrible rash he had on the back of his hands. He told me it was something that he would get in the summer months. Left over from his time in the Pacific during the war.
These were both good men. I am very proud of them and think of them a lot. I have some very special memories that I hold dear to my heart. I never asked them about their time in the military. I thought it would be rather rude. If I had been made to be a part of some horrible roux, I wouldn't appreciate people asking me about it.
Thank you to all the vets currently and in the past. Thank for your service and your sacrifice.
The picture is from my collection.
