I'm not interested in money. I don't know anything about investing. It just isn't my thing. 20 years ago I was smart enough to sign up for a 403(b) which is like a 401(k) retirement account but for public workers and without employers matching your contributions. Money is deducted from my pay each time and automatically deposited into the account. It gets invested into various funds/stocks. I went aggressive back in the day and it really hasn't been changed much since then.
Anyway I checked my 403(b) last week out of morbid curiosity. The amount isn't anything amazing to retire on but the website said that it had earned over 9% year to date. Like I said I don't know anything about money. My brother in law graduated from the Wharton School of Business at UPenn. I texted him the other day to ask him if 9% was a good return on the investment. He said definitely because 6% is the typical good rate.
So hey I'm doing okay in the financial world even though I know nothing about it.

9% is excellent. Are you able to move your funds around? I did with my investment and made 22%. You do have to follow the funds and make adjustments though. You might not want to take the time and trouble to do so.

I don't know enough about investing to do that. The financial guy initially set me up and my ex adjusted it at one point. I think the financial guy adjusted it too. I just let them do their thing. It is way more money than I would have saved/earned on my own over the years though it isn't anything that would support me for the rest of my life.

I know what you are saying since when I was employed I did have a 40l k retirement plan before I stepped down to take care of my relatives after Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana in 2005.
