My laptop is officially on its way out. I finally find the charger so I am able to use it again and now its slowly but surely losing function. If I pick it up the wrong way like I did a while ago the screen starts glitching then freezes completely and the laptop stops responding entirely. I was able to get it working again for now thank god but now I'm trying my best not to pick it up if I can avoid it and not moving it too much either. I will try to make it last as long as I possibly can because I don't think I'll be able to afford a replacement any time soon.
Any suggestions from the tech saavy? I have an HP Laptop now but I'd love to get something good for writing and studying.

@DaddyEvil is really tech savvy. I have no clue myself, unfortunately.

If you live near a Best buy, and have decent credit, you can pick up a new laptop easily for anywhere between 200-600 dollars easily and get their store card and pay it off in monthly installments. If you're hoocked on windows, those are about 2 to 4 hundreded dollars. Chrome books are usually cheeper at a couple hundreded (or sometimes less) and are good for light work, typing internet browsing etc.
If you have Walmart, you can get an M1 macbook air for about 600. They offer a store card, too and you can pay off the device as well as get 3% cash back that can be used as cash back twords your first installment.
Look forreferbished laptops directly through manufactures, not third-party retailers. Apple for example has laptops they mark down a couple hundred bucks and have fininacing options avaible, too. The laptops are brand new (most of them) and are usually laptops someone returned because they got the wrong color or wrong specs.
My M2 macbook air is working perfectly and is almost two years old.

@IvySaysHi I am a total tech nerd. I won't lie. I could go into detail more about the nerd stuff behind the tech, but I've bought more laptops than I should. Mostly because I use a screen reader and most of them are hard on computers. But, that's neither here nor there. THere's a lot of technical stuff that goes into it. but, I hope I gave you some ballpark numbers.

I don't have a laptop but what @DaddyEvil said is true you should try with an external screen first.

It sounds like a loose or damaged display cable... If you have an external screen/monitor, you could plug your laptop into it and see if you get a decent picture... If you can, that confirms the loose/damaged cable. You can continue to use it while it's plugged into the external screen/monitor.
The new cable costs between $15 and $25. (You'll need to go online and search for your model/serial number to be sure to get the correct cable.) If you don't know how to do the replacement yourself, a repairperson will charge you a little over $100 to do the work for you. (Of course, that price is for someone living in Southern Missouri. I have no idea how much it might cost where you live.)
I hope this information is helpful to you.

mighty helpful thank you. So far I've ,anaged to keep the screen from glitching and freezing so I'm considering maybe just saving up for a newer model but I don't doubt you are more than likely right about what is causing the issue

If you're credit is good you could get 1 from best buy
& just pay like 75-100 a month on it like I did & it will
help your credit score as you keep the pymts up.
