I'm a Prehistoric Being to Internet Age

Literally, I'm an alien from the past. I grew up in the years when televisions were rare and computers were not around. Internet, e-mail and google were not even conceived.
In the banks , paper and pen were the most useful instruments of transactions. And the records of deposits and withdrawals were kept in thick registers.
No wonder, we senior become victims of fraud by dishonest beings of later years. Cases of seniors getting robbed of their precious money in the banks are not few.
Recently, my wife and I were led into applying for credit cards. We didn't want it as we don't have that much money that we would go about buying goods through credit cards. But the fellow sitting at a side desk looked so reliable that we allowed him to use our phone. We thought it was something necessary to get our retirement benefits like PF and so on.
We were alerted by a foster son working in hotel business. And some colleague teachers also shared their unhappy experience of losing money from their bank accounts because of credit cards.
We decided to cancel our application for the said cards. We went to the bank this afternoon to get it done. The agent was not at his desk. Others told us that he had not come to the bank today.
A senior employee told us not to worry. He assured us that credit cards could not be used without activation by us. We hope to get the cancellation of the cards done in a day or two. That would allow us to heave a sigh of relief.

The world has become a place of fraud even by the most powerful. The only thing that makes me happy with my age and my infirmities is that I won´t see the debacle.

I hear what you are saying. I don't like mobile phones but it's almost impossible to function here without one. Every form you fill in needs your phone number and you can't move on without filling in that line. It's really annoying.
